Every venture should start with the Spiritual aspect of one’s life. In the end it is all that is really important. If this area is not a strong foundation or is short-changed, success in other areas is very difficult to achieve.
Various Christian denominations have representation in Luke 16’s programs/projects. While this is a non-denominational endeavor, Christianity has many common doctrines. There is no attempt to proselytize anyone. There is no litmus test for mentors or participants. The purpose here is to ensure that the core of Christian faith is infused into our efforts to be successful.
We believe that everyone has a spirit, and that spirit longs to connect to its Creator. If we choose to live contrary to that longing, we will undermine our efforts as a human being.
Creative Circle
This is the area where most our focus is directed. The Spiritual is vitally important, but we give ourselves definition by what we do (create). Creation is not limited to physical things. The circle shows areas that are not “not physical”, some are don’t seem to be creating at all. However, what we “create” in areas other than work, define us in some very important ways. If we can’t relax, for instance, we create an environment where we are tense, uptight, and overly focused on things that will lead to tremendous stress. We all have a breaking point, and we need to carve out (create) time for relaxation or we will rob from the Spiritual side of ourselves.
Perhaps the most important thing that we create is our persona. This is how others perceive who and what we are. No one can “see” inside of another person, so we make judgments about us. It has been said that “who we are speaks so loudly that others can’t hear what we say”. We may not even be who we seem to be, but that is for another discussion.
It has also been said that our work/job defines us. This may be problem for some of us, so we must reconcile ourselves to it. Then we can deal with it by finding other areas of expression apart from that work. Depending on what your occupation is, you may find this to be a very important step to take.
In the end, as Shakespeare put it, “to thine own self be true”. Use your gifts in your creative side to be all that God created you to be. We want to help you recognize and develop that calling.
Physical Circle
The importance of this area is that it seems that many of us seem to use this as the reason we work to make money. It may be a part of our Creative area, but nonetheless, we feel that we must purchase things that help to define us or give us pleasure. Rare is the person who doesn’t want things, and it is not really a problem unless we covet what someone has or we become obsessed with having physical things. A lot of our culture has glorified owning things to the point that our credit card debt is at an all time high. If this is your case, then you may have crossed over the line.
Putting things into perspective is the best way to alleviate this problem. Here again, if you have starved your Creative area and/or your Spiritual area, you may have made Physical things your god. We want to help you put everything into the proper perspective.
It is our desire to have your living situation (house or apartment) such that you can focus on the other areas of your life. We don’t want you to be overwhelmed with debt or have all of your money tied up in “stuff”. We want to help you be able to care for your family and be able to provide for their health and education needs.
